Piano, Violin Instructor
Christine McDivitt
Christine achieved her ARCT in both piano and violin for the Royal Conservatory of Music and had received the RCMT Alumni Associations Scholarship for Violin in earning the highest mark of the year for ARCT violin in 2006. She also completed her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Violin Performance at the University of British Columbia under the tutelage of Professor Jasper Wood. She has performed in master classes for many renowned violinists/groups including Charles Castleman, Vadim Gluzman, Scott St. John, Penderecki String Quartet, and St. Lawrence String Quartet. Christine has been teaching violin, piano, and music theory for over 12 years and have students attend music festivals around the lower mainland as well as taking the RCM examinations up to the ARCT Performers level. Her philosophy is in setting a strong foundation for students and setting beginner students up with the proper techniques so they are equipped to tackle challenges as they advance.
Christine also frequently performs in many professional orchestras in the lower mainland including the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, and the newly formed Surrey City Orchestra. Aside from performing classical repertoire, Christine had also performed with Verve recording artist, Cody Karey, at the 2010 Winter Olympics, opening for Jully Black. Christine is also honoured to have performed with many famous artists including Grammy award winning artist Ricky Kej, and the XIV Chopin International Piano Competition winner, Yundi Li. In 2013, Christine also received a JUNO Certificate award for her Violin Solo in The Canadian Tenors' Album under the category of "Adult Contemporary Album of the Year”.
